Museum and gallery trips are always a little bit uncomfortable for me- they make me feel like i should be getting something i'm not and i feel kind of like a pretentious twat. Most of the work there usually doesn't inspire me or i don't really enjoy at all- but going there with a purpose ? Yeah..no, still not much fun. The space is nice and light to be in, and the art is nice to be around. Nice, yeah. Nice. Looking out for line of sight was easy in the classical paintings- the light parts are where the eye is drawn to, and the figures, it felt pretty self explanatory to me. the more contemporary work was again, lovely to be around, yet i felt alienated from it. The line of sight, again, pretty self explanatory. It did help a little, drawing out a rough version of the artwork in the playbook- it actually made me look at the artwork and consider it, and i did actually quite enjoy summing up these complex pieces of art in a few quick, rubbish lines. Overall, this task was successful because it was good to actually get out of the studio and see some funky stuff, but also helped me learn to look a little bit harder at what i'm seeing, learn from that concerning my own work, and maybe finally pay some attention to some culture.
